Robin van Persie to make Manchester United debut at Everton, says Sir Alex Ferguson, as Arsenal deal agreed

Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to gamble on the match fitness of Robin van Persie by handing the £22 million forward his Manchester United debut against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday evening. Van Persie, who began the first stage of a medical in Manchester on Thursday afternoon, is expected to rubber-stamp his transfer from Arsenal on Friday after agreeing a four-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, worth £200,000 a week at Old Trafford. And despite Van Persie being limited to less than 45 minutes of football this pre-season after missing Arsenal’s tour of the Far East, Ferguson has admitted that the 29 year-old is on course to face Everton should his medical be successfully negotiated on Friday. “Sometimes medicals take a little longer and it may carry on until Friday,” Ferguson said. “But I’m sure he [Van Persie] will be available for Monday’s game.” But having seen off competition from Manchester City and Juventus, as well as overcoming initial resistance from Arsenal, to sign Van Persie, Ferguson has admitted his delight at luring last season’s double Footballer of the Year and Premier League top goalscorer to Old Trafford. And the Scot believes that, with Van Persie alongside Javier Hernández, Wayne Rooney and youngster Danny Welbeck, United now possess their most potent strike force since the Treble-winning campaign of 1999. Ferguson said he was “delighted” with the Van Persie deal. “He’s not signed yet, but a fee has been agreed and hopefully the medical goes according to plan. “Rooney and Van Persie are two fantastic players and it’s great to have both of them. What it gives us is more strength and combinations up front. Source :- Telegraph

Fabrice Muamba retired from football

Fabrice Muamba retired from the game on Wednesday on medical advice following his on-field cardiac arrest in an FA Cup tie at Tottenham on March 17.He announce his 'devastation' at being forced to retire from football at 24 - but insisted he had been 'so lucky' to play at the top level in the first place.
Remarkably he made a stunning recovery and left hospital a month later. Muamba travelled to Belgium for a minor heart operation last week, and sought medical advice from a top cardiologist. It was then when he was told that a return to professional football would put too much strain on his heart. Muamba told Bolton's official website: 'Since suffering my heart attack and being discharged from hospital, I have remained utterly positive in the belief I could one day resume my playing career and play for Bolton Wanderers once again. 'As part of my on-going recovery, last week I travelled to Belgium to seek further medical advice from a leading cardiologist. 'But the news I received was obviously not what I had hoped it would be and it means I am now announcing my retirement from professional football. 'Football has been my life since I was a teenage boy and it has given me so many opportunities. 'Above all else, I love the game and count myself very lucky to have been able to play at the highest level. Source :- Dailymaikl

Manchester City win FA Community Shield

A great start for 2011/2012 Barclays Premier League, Manchester City. The Premier League champion beat Chelsea 3-2 at Villa Park and warn other's opponet that they are ready to retain their champion.
Roberto Mancini team failing behind in 1st half after Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres score in 40th minutes. But in the 2nd half, Manchester City player get the rhythm and Yaya Toure score their first goal on 53th minute. Carlos Tevez added after 6 minute later and Samir Nasri score at the box on 65th minute. Chelsea subs, Ryan Bertrand has score their consolation goal on 80th minute.
Great game for this champion but the league is still long. Unluckily for Chelsea after Branislav Ivanovic get the red card, they couldn't cope with Manchester City strikeforce. I think Manchester City red shirt is quite weird..

Harry Redknapp says Tottenham sacking was inevitable

Harry Redknapp believes he would have been sacked by Tottenham even if they earned Champions League qualification.
“ It is tough because it is a team that could have gone on to win the Premier League. I just wish I had been part of that ” Harry Redknapp
The 65-year-old manager was dismissed on Wednesday evening after almost four years at White Hart Lane. Despite finishing one point behind Arsenal in fourth last term, Chelsea's Champions League win denied Spurs a place in next season's competition. "I think the same outcome would have happened, the chairman would have gone down the same road," said Redknapp. Chairman Daniel Levy is said to be in no rush to replace Redknapp with Tottenham privately expressing a determination to conduct a "properly run process" to find their next manger. David Moyes has been installed as an early favourite to succeed Redknapp by bookmakers but it is understood no approach has been made for the Everton manager. Sources close to Andre Villas-Boas claim he is not being considered, while Rafael Benitez, Roberto Martinez and ex-Spurs striker Jurgen Klinsmann have also been linked with the role. Redknapp, meanwhile, has stressed he will be looking for another job in management after previous stints with Portsmouth, Southampton, West Ham and Bournemouth. "You cannot sit around moping. That's not my game," he said. "I love football. I would suit any job. I don't think I am coming to the end of my career. "Alex Ferguson is in his seventies and is still the best manager in the world. I am as fit as a fiddle." Redknapp had a year left on his contract and was due to meet Levy this week to discuss his future, but he insists there are no hard feelings. "What has happened is that I met with the chairman and the club decided to go in a different direction," he said. "That's their decision. "I have had four fantastic years at Tottenham and have absolutely loved every minute. It couldn't have gone better for me. "It is disappointing in some ways but that's football," Redknapp added. "The people who own the club make their decisions. That is their right. I don't hold grudges. I don't worry what could have been. "I have left behind fantastic players. It is tough because it is a team that could have gone on to win the Premier League. I just wish I had been part of that." Redknapp led Tottenham to a fourth-place finish in 2009/10 to seal their first ever appearance in the Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals in 2010/11. Spurs were briefly in contention for the Premier League title last season but slipped to fourth after Redknapp was installed as the favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England manager. When Capello resigned on 8 February, Spurs were third in the league and 10 points clear of a faltering Arsenal, but they eventually finished a point behind the Gunners while the FA appointed Roy Hodgson. However, Redknapp believes speculation about him succeeding Capello had no bearing on Levy's decision. "I have kept my counsel all the way through and that was nothing at all to do with anything," he said. Redknapp added: "It was nothing to do with contracts or me asking for anything. I had a year left and that was fine. The club decided to have a change. It is a decision the chairman decided to make." Hodgson, who was preparing his England team to face Sweden, said he had sympathy for Redknapp. "I was very sad to hear the news. I have texted him and don't expect a reply straight away because he will be snowed under," said the England boss. "It's a major surprise. I'm disappointed for him and hope that the next job comes along for him very soon." -BBC Sport

Shinji Kagawa to join Manchester United after Dortmund agree fee

Manchester United have confirmed they have agreed terms for the transfer of Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund. The deal is subject to a medical and work permit. "Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with both Borussia Dortmund and Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to the club," said a United statement. "The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June. Further details will be announced in due course." Negotiations have been ongoing with the Japan international for a number of weeks. Although the deal – which is expected to initially cost around £12m and possibly rise to as much as £18m with add-ons – has been anticipated for some time, it is good news for United. Many United fans are privately concerned about the funds being made available to Sir Alex Ferguson and felt strengthening the midfield area was an absolute imperative. Kagawa has already done enough in his two seasons in Germany to avoid the fate of Park Ji-sung, who was initially condemned as a "trophy" signing following his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in 2005, designed purely to sell shirts in the lucrative Far East market. He was named in the Bundesliga's team of the season for 2010-11 despite being absent through injury for half the campaign. Kagawa then went on to score 16 goals last term, when Dortmund completed the domestic league and cup double. Ferguson and his assistant, Mike Phelan, made a personal check on the 23-year-old the day before United's final match at Sunderland, when they saw Kagawa grab one goal and create another in Dortmund's 5-2 German Cup triumph over Bayern Munich. Dortmund stand to make a healthy profit on Kagawa, who cost them £250,000 from the Japanese club Cerezo Osaka in 2006. It is not anticipated the deal will be completed until the end of the month as Kagawa is currently on international duty and played in Japan's 3-0 World Cup qualifying round victory over Oman at the weekend. - Guardian Shiniji Kagawa video

Gary Neville in England squad

Wow.. Don't believe it? Watch this picture

Gary Neville in training with Walcott.  Yes, he is in squad but not as a player. He is a coach after Roy Hodgson  to set up the England squad.

Ox's family to stay away from Euros

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's family will not travel to this summer's European Championships due to fears of racist abuse. Euro 2012 will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine, with the latter country blighted by sections of fans associated with racism. The British Foreign Office has warned of Ukraine that "travellers of Asian or Afro-Caribbean descent and individuals belonging to religious minorities should take extra care". England's three Group D matches are in Ukraine, although the team will be stationed in Poland, which is putting off some of England's players from taking their families to the tournament. Theo Walcott has already confirmed his relatives will not be attending, while widespread reports in Friday's media suggest the family of his Arsenal team-mate Oxlade-Chamberlain, 18, have made the same decision. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, defender Joleon Lescott, whose family will also be staying at home, said: "It's a shame for some members of the squad that their families feel they can't go and it's a situation that needs to be addressed. "It was quite alarming to see the reports about the situation out there, but even before the reports, my family weren't going. "Maybe if I'm playing and we get to the final, my family will want to go out there, but my main concern is that they have a good summer and if they're happy, I'm happy. And they're happy staying at home." - Soccernet It is sad. There's still racism in Euro...

Adidas unveiled Chelsea new jersey for 2012-2013 season. Chelsea the only big Premier League club that using Adidas as their sponsor after Liverpool's switch to Warrior Sports. Arsenal and Manchester United are sponsored by Nike, Spurs with Under Armour and Man City outfitted by Umbro.

Fergie fears for Anderson

Sir Alex Ferguson is concerned that injury problems will wreck Anderson's career as the hamstrung Brazil midfielder is forced to watch the rest of the season from the sidelines. Anderson has been blighted by a succession of problems since his £25 million move from FC Porto in 2007 and there are now fears Ferguson will discard the South American as he looks to reinforce his midfield during the summer. The 24-year-old has been restricted to just 16 appearances this term, and only four since the beginning of November. Ferguson said: "He hasn't really realised his potential, which is there for all to see. "He is a fantastic footballer. I just hope he doesn't have the bad luck that Michael Owen has had throughout his career. "At 24, obviously he's still very young and I'm sure we will get the benefit of that.'' Anderson has won 8 caps for the Brazilian national team. - Soccernet

OOo.. I've forgot about Anderson after Scholes coming back.. Pity him..

Michael Owen back to play ?

Hahahaha.. Injury prone player, Michael Owen will return to make contribution to Manchester United in the final week of the season. Owen is not expected to be fit in time to face Everton on Sunday but could return for United's final three games of the season. Honestly, I think it is better for Owen to retired. He can't play to the highest level again... Please, don't waste Manchester United money to pay your wages.

Rooney apologises for breaking young fan's wrist

LONDON (Reuters) - Manchester United's Wayne Rooney has apologised to young fan Jamie Thomas after he broke the nine-year-old's wrist with a wayward shot during the warm-up for Sunday's Premier League game at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Thomas, who lives in Wem, Shropshire, was at Molineux watching United for the first time when he put his hands up to stop the England striker's stray shot from hitting him.
"I want to apologise to Jamie Thomas, I have arranged for a letter and a signed shirt to be sent to his home address," Rooney wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.
Thomas, who sat in the front row of the Jack Harris Stand, missed most of the second half having treatment, The Shropshire Star reported on its website (www.shropshirestar.com).
"The players were warming up and Rooney and (Javier) Hernandez were taking a few shots," his father Andy was quoted as saying.
"Rooney missed one and it was coming straight towards Jamie so he put out his hands to stop it hitting him and it broke his wrist."
Thomas received treatment from first aiders at the ground and was later taken to hospital.
"They said it was a clean break and he has to go back in a couple of weeks," added his father.
Rooney said he was not aware of the incident at the time.
Premier League leaders United won the match 5-0.

Fabrice Muamba faces critical 24 hours,

Fabrice Muamba was rushed to hospital after harrowing scenes towards the end of the first half at White Hart Lane on Saturday, when the midfielder slumped to the turf with no player near him.
Several paramedics were seen attempting to revive the player before he was rushed off the field in a stretcher after 41 minutes with the scores at 1-1.
Bolton manager Coyle, who accompanied Muamba to the hospital, later gave an update on the player's progress.
"Fabrice is critically ill. The next 24 hours are going to be absolutely crucial," Coyle told Sky News early Sunday.
"We've obviously been inundated with people wishing him well and we hope that if everybody can pray strongly tonight that Fabrice is able to recover.

With the scores level at 1-1 with 41 minutes played, Muamba collapsed near the halfway line. Paramedics spent six minutes trying to resuscitate the former England Under-21 international on the pitch before he was stretchered off amid applause from both sets of fans.

With many players visibly distressed, referee Howard Webb took the players off and shortly afterwards it was confirmed the game would not continue.

Andrei Arshavin back to Zenit St Petersburg

Andrei Arshavin leaves Arsenal to play for his former club, Zenit St Petersburg.

It has been reported that the Russian club agreed to pay a £1 million loan fee as well as paying the striker’s wages until the end of the season.
Arshavin, who was a £15 million January signing he joined from Zenit in 2009, said on Twitter: "It’s done."
The Russian, who was a revelation in the opening spell of his time in north London but has been struggling for form and fitness recently, made 98 league appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals.
A measure of how far his stock had fallen came in Arsenal's recent match against Manchester United when Wenger bringing Arshavin on as a late substitute prompted a chorus of boos from the stands.
Arshavin told Sport-Express in Russia: "Friday was a very difficult day, nothing was decided until the very last minute.
"But I hope from now on everything is going to be fine. I want to play and will do all I can to help Zenit win the Russian title."
Arshavin, who will wear the number 29 shirt at Zenit, appears tom have left with Arsenal's blessing, getting him off their wage bill and allowing the player to "maximise his opportunities for regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2012".

- Telegraph.co.uk

Good luck Arshavin. It is better for him to go Russia to get better chance of playing for Russia. Maybe he will do well there.
