Arsenal are in the race to sign Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen, if reports are to be believed. The Gunners have looked vulnerable at the back this season, conceding 36 goals, and Arsene Wenger is tipped to strengthen in the summer. 23-year-old Vermaelen can play at centre-back or left-back and was made Ajax club captain this season.
