Arsenal FC to sign Karim Benzema?

A latest rumor from Arsenal.Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer.Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been a fan of the France international for some time and according to Caughtoffside.com is ready to make "a significant bid" for the forward when the transfer window reopens.
Arsenal are keen on adding an extra striker to play alongside Robin van Persie next season, with Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela likely to be sold by the Gunners, and Benzema would likely cost in excess of £20million.Given that Robin Van Persie struggles to make it through a season without a significant injury and that Marouane Chamakh has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League following an impressive start, Arsenal could well do with signing a striker who can score 20 goals a season.Benzema has previously been on Wenger’s radar, as the manager attempted to sign him at the start of the 2009 season, before his move to Madrid was completed. Nonetheless, it seems like Wenger is going to go all out and bid as much as 23 million pounds for the striker, in order to make his side more competitive and lethal up-front, for the coming seasons.

Meireles Fans’ Player of the Year

Liverpool Football Club’s Raul Meireles has won the PFA Fans Player of the Year award.

The Portugal international joined the Reds from Porto in an £11.5million deal in the summer, and he has enjoyed a fine debut campaign in England.

Meireles’ performances have been recognised enough to land him the Fans award, and the 28-year-old has been hailed by manager Kenny Dalglish.

"Raul has always had the ability he has shown recently," said the Scot. "Maybe he's settled down a little bit and is more comfortable and confident because he is playing well.

"It is fantastic to see Raul doing so well. He has always been a talented footballer, he's always had what we are seeing now but it's been trying to get it out and it is coming out now.”
